Production Design

Kristen Dempsey is a New York–based production designer and artist working across film, editorial, and live performance. Her feature credits include Playland (Tribeca, IFFR, Outfest; Montclair Film Festival Award for Outstanding Visual Splendor) and Room Temperature (LA Festival of Movies, Chicago Underground; named one of John Waters’ Best Films of 2025). She recently served as visual consultant and art director for Chappell Roan’s 2025 festival tour, Visions of Damsels and Other Dangerous Things, drawing on the theatrical stagecraft and material-driven design language that define her practice.

Her clients include Time, Bon Appétit, Nike, LMNT, American Express, and Amaro Montenegro, and her work has appeared in Vogue China, T Magazine, W, V Mag, and AnOther. As a scenic artist and prop artisan, she has contributed to projects for A24, Bad Bunny, Ralph Lauren, Paco Rabanne, Alexander Wang, and Sleep No More.

Kristen began her career in opera and theater, assisting and designing across major European institutions including the Royal Opera House, Opéra Bastille, the National Theatre, and the Bavarian State Opera. She is a 2024 Berlinale Talent in Production Design and a member of United Scenic Artists Local 829.

Her work is recognized for psychologically charged environments, symbolic materiality, and a hybrid visual language that merges realism with heightened, imaginative world-building.
